So where to start? Starting is always the tricky part! My name is Gemma McGowan, from Kells Co. Meath, Ireland and to say I've a lot of feathers in my cap is an understatement. I love variety in my life and therefore choose to do lots of strange and interesting things. I suppose I should start by referring to the title of my blog.
So....the Systematic Kinesiology bit. Well I discovered Systematic Kinesiology 13 years ago when I first diagnosed with Crohns disease at the age of 20. I have tried many other complementary and holistic therapies over the years but none keep my symptoms under control like kinesiology does. As a result, 5 years ago I decided I would take up the study of this incredible practice myself and qualified in 2012. In this blog I will be going into detail as to what Systematic Kinesiology is, how it works, what it has done and continues to do for me and how it can help you!
The Paleo bit....this is the diet plan I follow in order to keep my Crohns and Rheumatoid arthritis at bay. Sometimes I follow the AIP version thats the Auto-Immune Paleo Protocol and sometimes just straight Paleo, depending on the severity of my symptoms. I will speak a length on both these subjects and include my daily diary, recipes, tips and pointers on all things Paleo. My Paleo journey has been incredible so far and the changes I've seen in body since it began have been quite incredible.
Magic......Yes magic!!! I've followed a very magical Spiritual path for the last 13 years. Between Witchcraft, Shamanism, Paganism, meditation, trance, astral travel, path workings, pilgrimage .... the list goes on, I've had plenty of mind altering and life changing experiences. I tend not to define or categorise myself as being any one particular thing although I think simply Pagan or Mystic come the closest. Magic to me is simply tapping into the Divine source from which all life emanates and seeing beyond our immediate reality to the great web that connects every living creature on this planet and beyond. Magic can occur at any time, in any place. It can be a conversation with a new friend, an epic sunset or the birth of a child. It's those moments of ecstatic bliss which we can't quite put into words. But again.....more on musings on magic to follow.
And finally the Mum bit......In just under 7 weeks time, I am to become a mother for the first time. I doubt all the mind altering, life changing experiences I've had up to this point can even begin to prepare me for whats about to happen but I'm so looking forward to the challenge and wonder of bringing a new life into the world. It will be an extra challenge for me juggling health issues and being self employed with being a new Mum so you can expect plenty of rants about cloth nappies, baby slings, sleepless nights and how my dear husband and I are coping with the new arrival.
In addition to the above bits I'm also a Seannachai (which is a traditional Irish Storyteller), teach meditation, write stories, songs and articles on holistic health and spirituality, make mead, grow veggies, go foraging and when I can...walk the dogs! :)
Watch this space.......and thanks for reading. :)
Beannachtai.
